Hilarious! Don't let this happen to you

Whilst browsing through the coloruful pages of my Djmag earlier today, I stumbled upon one of the many cheery anecdotes the magazine is laden with,- Though I was sat in a train within which one could literally cut the atmospehere with a blade, I burst out in in a fit of laughter that evoked quite a few curious stares. See if you think this is as comical as I do:

Dj mag to Don Diablo: "Weirdest 'Dam Experience? "

"I remember New Year's Eve, a few years ago, I had to do six shows that night and barely ahd time to breathe in between the shows, let alone do a proper toilet stop. After the third show, in a big venue in Amsterdam, my bladder was about to explode from all the water I'd drank. Unfortunately, the club was so packed that it was impossible to make it to the toilet in time so we had to make a quick decision and my tour manager handed me an empty bottle of vodka. I filled it up backstage and put the bottle aside.
"We had a really quick goodbye chat with the promoter and right before we left we spotted this guy, who just found the bottle somewhere, downing it with his friends. They were cheering very loud and making a big toast, saying something like what a good way it was to start the year with a free bottle of vodka. Who was I to spoil their fun?"

Top tune: Tim Andresen, The latin dream

Copenhagen's head house honcho returns with yet another main room floor filler. Picking up on where "ladybug" left off, The Latin dream is a ritzy, synth-smooched progressive theme punctuated by soft Spanish background vocals and a flowing percussive feel. Think Pryda on a good day. The latin dream is out on most download sites (Beatport, djdownload, junodownload etc...) complete with a neat batch of remixes from the likes of Morfeen.

Catch the Beatport link after the jump.

My theme song for this years climate conference in Copenhagen

Above & Beyond : Miracle. Let's change the way we treat the world we live in people. We can no longer afford to abuse our sources of energy withouout replenishing them. YES WE CAN. Check out the video at the end of the text.

Don’t they know that there’s something going on?
What they’re harming with their indecision
But who will be left standing when I’m gone?
There’ll be nothing left but a vision

It’s too easy to turn a blind eye to the light
It’s too easy to bow your head and pray
There are some times when you should try to find your voice
This is one voice that you must find today

Are you hoping for a miracle, as the ice caps melt away?
No use hoping for a miracle
There’s a price we’ll have to pay

It’s too easy to turn a blind eye to the light
It’s too easy to bow your head and pray
There are some times when you should try to find your voice
This is one voice that you must find today

Are you hoping for a miracle, as the ice caps melt away?
No use hoping for a miracle

Are you hoping for a miracle, as the ice caps melt away?
No use hoping for a miracle
There’s a price we’ll have to pay*

Strøm @ Enghave park

If last year’s strøm festival was high octane, this year’s event can only be described as something out of this world. Electronic music and artistry seems to have been embraced by a lot more people who have discovered the magic behind it and in so doing, joined forces in being a part of its vivid legacy.

This was certainly true of the free concerts at Enghave park this weekend, where the likes of “The Field”, “Flying Lotus” , “Aeroplane”, “Troels Abrahamsen” and “Mary Anne Hobbs” got people in high spirits. Here’s a short recap of the highlights.

Much credit has to be given to Swedish cats “The Field” for their virtuoso antics on Friday, which got the crowd jumping with tasty cuts from their new album, the critically acclaimed “Yesterday and today” Spot-on mixing, and a real immersion on the part of the band was what sold them though; these blokes really know how to get the party started.

“Aeroplane” followed suit after “The Field” left the stage, opening with a sizzling remix of “Friendly Fires’” “Paris” tune, and building on from there. I personally think that this was the peak of the night, though many would argue that it was the ravey “Flying Lotus” and his garland of quirky arcade game sounds, trippy visualisations and jittery musical bits and bobs that took the show to its zenith. Alice Coltrane’s great nephew certainly has the musical gift, no doubt about that.

Saturday’s Enghave shenanigans featured “Olga Kouklaki” and her lively vocals overlayed by dreamy, deep musical accompaniments before Troels Abrahamsen took over the baton and delivered a rich, emotional assemblage that set the stage for the undisputed highlight of the night, Mary-Anne Hobbs. Dubstep is something of a new revolution in the UK, and an even scarcer commodity in Denmark; bearing witness to the effect Mary- Anne Hobbs’ chunky basslines and heavy-set amalgamations had on the crowd was an experience like no other. Radiant, charming and communicative, the radio one Dj was nothing short of a sensation, may will no doubt remember her as quite a standout as far as standouts go.

Ladybug, Tim Andresen

Copenhagen's house head honcho Tim Andresen has just released his new single ladybug on Beatport. It's a synth-stained number that straddles the paddocks of deep house whilst adding a stylish bit of funk in the process. Worth a listen :)

Para todo todos

El General en Jefe del Ejército Libertador del Sur
Emiliano Zapata.
Manifiesto zapatista en náhuatl.
Al pueblo de México:
A los pueblos y gobiernos del mundo:
Hermanos:

Techo, tierra, trabajo, pan, salud, educación, independencia, democracia y libertad. Estas fueron nuestras demandas en la larga noche de los 500 años. Estas son, hoy, nuestras exigencias.

Sexy Salamanca

When one pitches up in whats been rumoured to be Spains wickedest Partying collosus, the hopes are naturally high from the onset. This is one city that doesn't disappoint, providing an overdose of fun-filled fracas and frenzy that'll leave even the best bon viveurs knackered and in need of some shut eye. Salamanca basks in her own golden glow emitted by the natural ageing of her plethora of eye-catching architecture; embalming her palpable aura in a sheen of class and dapper panache. It's her nightlife however that reels in the accolades; as her quaint streets teem with a myopia of merry youth from all over the planet, bound together by the warmth and festive feel emitted from the numerous discos and bars, each adding elements of their own unique distinction to the overall mosaic of fun. I was personally well enamoured by the Bani-Aqua bar; a grunge joint splurting out some brill Indie / rock set in the backdrop of grafiti-filled walls which one is free to write on should one wish to leave their mark and be a part of the exodus. There's also 'las Almas' where Spanish pachanga never sounded better; the joint sports a real tree behind the bar; burgoise-clad Bouncers...and a slightly older crowd no less barmy by such virtue.... how ace is that?! Come the after hours, and 'Cubic' takes the honours; steaming out some frivolous electro and house chimes that set the scene ablaze, continuing to the dawn and beyond. The Irish disco is also a dope hangout, packed with Anglo-speaking folk (thats about all i remember of it though.....)... Nos vemos en Salamanca...una ciudad de puta madre!
